DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: CWCC06
RECEIPT DATE: 10 12 1988
MANAGER TITLE: BALTIMORE
RECEIPT NOTES:
Another customer served, another success for the Cafe and Diner—or at least what will become the Cafe and Diner. With 8 now among us, though, I can’t help feeling that the whole business has solidified into something more tangible. We were doing a decent job before, but it takes an artist like 8 to transform us into something truly special. Something extraordinary. Something… utterly generic—at least to passing tourists. And while tourists have their place, they’re fleeting. Our customers are the ones we interact with, the ones we should truly aim to please with our service.
And our service is already showing signs of improvement. Mr. Perez seemed to go home happy (though to a happy home… well, that’s a different story), and Mr. Min was swept back up into the pearly dunes of upper Ottawa. But Mr. Andros? He’s our first customer to leave a tip. And since this is our very first tip, we’ll need to decide how to split it. Given the nature of the tip—and though he’s been out and about—I think our “secret” employee deserves a share as well. It’s not every day we get to visit a soothsayer from up north.
So, we’ll coordinate with him on when he’ll be back in town. Meanwhile, my trusted associate and 8 are working on booking our flight to Ottawa. Fortunately, it’s mon amour’s own region, so we’re welcome to visit, though I gather she’s trying to keep a low profile. Splitting her time between here and there may be a challenge moving forward. Oh well—what can you do? I’d like to think that spending time here with us—with me—is worth the trouble.
