I’ve been checking in with the Owner’s acquaintances made through the SATAN S.U.C.K.S.S organization, and I’ve noticed a troubling trend. At least half of them, if not more, have reported strange behavior in their children. Apparently, they’ve become increasingly isolated and distant. A total flip in their usual personality. Of course, this would make some sense on its own. Teenagers are a scary bunch, no offense #35, #44, and #1313. It’s somewhat natural for worried mothers to seek out an answer to their children’s new behavior and, more importantly, a scapegoat, to which Satan would be an appealing option. However… almost every mother who claimed their children were acting strangely also mentioned that they’ve been sleep-talking.
From what has been relayed to me, their children are mumbling to themselves about strange dark visions and promises of power. I don’t think I need to connect the dots any further to point to the obvious here, Mrs. Umbra. It seems we cannot catch a break from her lately, though now she seems to have refocused her efforts directly onto Padre’s plans instead of her own. Unless, of course, whatever Mr. Clemens left behind directly relates to Mrs. Umbra’s seemingly mass visitation of Long Beach’s children. Certainly, it seems like a stretch of even her talents to visit so many people in such a short time span. Though I am not much of a dreamer myself, I’m much more of a realist.
In any case, what Mrs. Umbra is doing rings eerily familiar to what Mrs. Aka was up to at Wilson High earlier. And these promises of power certainly align with Padre Santos’ general plan to utilize the Anathema Proxy loophole. Which, of course, means we need to serve Mrs. Umbra before she takes her business to any more unsolicited households. While paying Mrs. Umbra’s tab in full would be ideal, it is also very impractical. Without a shadow of a doubt, her tab is a little too extensive for us to pay off. Even if we could sate her Cafe cravings, Mrs. Aka would undoubtedly bring her right back into the Cafe. So, we need to serve Mrs. Umbra and ensure that she can’t continue to influence the poor children of Long Beach’s dreams.
