Now that our business with the Gameshow Host is done, we can turn our attention back toward more pressing matters. Specifically, our Nicaraguan Coffee Seller, Augustine Sarcophim, and his ties to Mr. Mayne. We know that not only did Augustine steal Mr. Mayne’s business from us, but he also extracted company secrets from #35. Of course, we have no way of knowing what secrets he stole, as #35 is unable to recall that rather traumatic experience. We also know that Augustine appears to be working with Abigail and, by proxy, the Dark Triad of Padre Santos, which makes this Church Business.
So, what could Padre Santos want with Nicaraguan coffee? That is the million-dollar question right now, and thankfully, one that the Gameshow Host didn’t ask us. I suppose we could find a use for our prize to help us find out the truth of this matter, but the Veil is quite a double-edged sword. No, I believe we should stick to our more conventional methods, and for me, that comes in the form of connections. I’ve been doing my research on Augustine’s old pals turned friends, the Flathead Amateur Cryptozoology Society, and perhaps they might have some inklings on what Augustine is up to.
Though it seems like whatever caused the rift between them happened before Augustine fell into league with the Open Doors Church. I believe the key to this puzzle might just be one of our favorite dysfunctional duos, Mrs. Aka and Mrs. Umbra. From what we’ve seen firsthand, it’s clear that Augustine played Mrs. Aka’s game at some point, and win or lose, he ended up with abilities not unlike Mrs. Umbra’s. It’s been a while since someone learned Umbra’s ways… and that is where my connections shall begin. The last known person to study in the footsteps of Mrs. Umbra—Solomon Langley.
