RECEIPT AS OF: 10/07/01

BARISTA ON DUTY: DOPPIO

RECEIPT FILED AS: DOTD-02

I maintain my pride in Marocchino’s performance, though I can’t help but feel as the band plays on, it’s hard to overlook the more sinister undertones. I cannot lie; the sinister undertones are also quite impressive. New tourists are popping in by the “ughs,” and the Ballast seems to be expanding with each new tourist. Of course, along with each new body, another few seconds seems to catch up with all of us, and it is growing increasingly clear that this is no well-balanced ballast of a club, but it is far more of a flimsy gossamer set to fail spectacularly.

The band is under strict security and supervision. I’ve seen a few tourists who got a little too close to the stage get thoroughly put in their place. Mistress is not known for her placidity, after all. It does create a challenge for us in how to stop this performance before it is too late. Of the band, only one member seems to take any meaningful breaks, and that is Mrs. Weyer. Her time, for that’s currently worth, is spread incredibly thin between her various roles in the nightclub.

Mrs. Ligeia is the obvious target, as stopping her would stop the influx of new revelers. However, Marocchino would probably disapprove of us going after her current fling. Additionally, the lure is less of my worry as we’re all already here. We need to stop the punishment. So, our true target would be the band’s keyboardist and terpsichorean trickster, Mr. Hamelin. It is his melody that is causing us all to dance without end. If we can stop him, we might be able to better plan our movements so that we may shut down this band without needing to take such drastic measures. As we are right now, I fear we are far too clumsy in our movements. Not that Espresso and I are poor dancers, mind you, we are among the best here, but we are but slaves to the rhythm.
