Time to bring everyone up to speed on what Mistress has been up to in the City of Angels. Now, I will say that I am not 100% sure about this information, but it’s a decent starting point, if nothing else. I gathered most of what I know with the original Cafe before it was set alight. As I mentioned earlier, we know Mistress has been around since 1995, but we were more focused on Padre and his church at the time. We next had a run-in with Mistress directly after the Cafe burnt down, but we haven’t heard from her since.
So, if Padre was running a church and gathering up a congregation, Mistress has been running nightclubs and gathering up ravers and revelers. We know that she had at least one, if not more, nightclubs under her control in 1995/1996. Seeing as it’s been five or so years, we can only assume she’s expanded. Especially with her brother out of the way and the Cafe out of the picture, as far as she knows. While full of regular tourists, her clubs were also mixed with coffee-loving customers from all walks of life. We ran into a particular Devil Eggs fan, Mr. Gray, at one of her nightclubs.
We also ran into Mrs. Weyer, one of Mistress’ managers. Mrs. Weyer wanted to sell us some coffee of her own, primarily that the nightclub revelers were only hanging around to chat, make deals, and have fun. They weren’t coming to stick around in the States despite the apparent violation of their visas. Mrs. Weyer was also keeping a very tight grip on the security of Mistress’ venues and was the first to ensure that no hats were on around the premises. This, of course, limits our actions though I would argue our hats these days far outshine the hats we used to wear. Still, we should take our time, both for our safety, and so we look good on camera. I’ll see if I can dig up any more specifics, but, in the meantime, keep smiling, everyone.
