MR. HERRICK CASE NO. 6
I’m sorry about last night. I’m glad we were able to serve our three customers before I slipped back into sleep. While I’m certain I must have scared S.W. half to death, from what it sounds like, it was one of my usual night terrors. Though, it is strange. As S.W. said, it seemed to strike me out of nowhere. I was perfectly awake and lucid one moment and then trapped in my nightmares the next. All I remember before it happened was the shock of the water. Could that be what triggered this episode?
A very recurring element in my nightmares is a swirling black ocean. Well, at least we have a vector to investigate now. Last night’s terror was different from the rest. At least in that, I seemed to be vocalizing parts of the experience. If we could trigger that state again, perhaps we could learn more about what’s haunting my dreams? When I’m ready, I think I’ll try an ice bath to see if that shocks me back into that waking dream state so J.L. can try to take more concentrated notes than S.W. was able to.
Oh, and I don’t believe S.W. had a chance to mention it as he was understandably quite distressed, but Mr. Ladoucette gave us a gift for our excellent service. A tiny piece of Mr. Herrick to remember him by and a phone number to call Mr. Perez should we find ourselves in need of an emergency customer to quash a midday lull. As for the piece of Mr. Herrick, we need to keep it somewhere safe and far from the Cafe, so S.W. and I buried it beneath the tree where we met Mr. Ladoucette. If we ever need to turn the wheel of fortune against someone, it’ll be there.
