I’m fine. Little scratched up, sure, but I’m fine. No need to worry about me. Though, I’ll admit, it was a bit bullheaded, you know, trying to take on Miss. 112’s service all by myself. But you know what? I’m glad I did. She did a number on my face, I’ll give her that—mighty deep scratches, right to the bone. And I knew what I was doing. Hate to think what she would’ve done to the rest of y’all.

Look… I ain’t saying I’m some kind of London Fog expert, but being from November and all, dealing with the terrifying and unknown is part of the job. Takin’ on a service where you don’t even know what the customer’s capable of—or if they can even be served at all—that’s just how it is.

Face hurts like hell, though. Probably could’ve gotten out of there without a scratch if’n I hadn’t slipped on the ice. Ran my face right into one of 112’s swipes. But at least that answers one question about her—she’s one of those more tangible London Fog types. That’s for sure. I had been speculating that 112 might be some sort of “Harbinger” or a variant. Of course, there ain’t no fightin’ with those types of customers, if’n the RRBT’s to be believed.

But that’s the thing… I’m not sure we can trust a book that hands us all the answers on a silver platter. Sure, it’s worked great so far, but you have to wonder why Mr. White and this “Lana” woman wanted everyone to have it…

“Thus, what enables the wise sovereign and the good general to strike and conquer, and achieve things beyond the reach of ordinary men, is foreknowledge. Now this foreknowledge cannot be elicited from spirits; it cannot be obtained inductively from experience, nor by any deductive calculation.”

Art of War, chapter thirteen or so. Something to think about, I reckon. Seems to me Lana’s probably studied Sun Tzu too. A doomed spy at the right time could just as well be our undoing.
