The moon, pallid and sharp, whispers in my ear—a warning. A secret. A shadow that lingers near.
I sat by the cell where our new guest remains, her silence a song composed of aching pains. Katherine Wade, bound and still, eyes shut tight—yet in slumber she is locked some horrid fight. I brought her raw meat, crimson and rare, to see what hunger truly lies in there.
Her hands—so small, so fragile, so cold—yet when they moved, the story they told! She tore through the flesh with hellish grace, and in that moment I saw a flash and trace of a change beneath her doll-like face.
Her eyes fluttered wide and within them I spied a flicker, a shimmer, a memory inside. She whispered a name not her own, soft and low—a life not her own. A story unknown. It dawned on me then, like the softest morning light: █████ █████ ███ ████████ ███ █████ █████ ███ ██████. ████ ███ █████ ██ █████ ██ █████, ███ ████ █████ ██ ███ ████ █████ ██ █ █████. ███ ██ ███ ██████ ███ █████ ██ ███ ████ ███████, ██ ██████ ███ ██████ ████ ████ ██████ ██████ █████ ████.
…As such I fear that more than just hunger stirs beneath her breast—there’s something else buried in her chest—and uninvited guest. A darkness that writhes, a shadow that clings, a chorus of whispers—███████ ██████ ██ ████ ██ ██ ██████’█ ███████. I fear—it must be… It can’t be… but yet…
Is it ███████? ███ ████ ███████, █████ ████? Or could it be something more ancient, something we already fear? The river delta soaked in blood brewed more than life; it has seeped into her mind—her stomach—now a storm of strife. I see it in her—this fractured, dark art—███ █████ ██ ███ ████, ███ ████ ███ █████████, ██████████ █████. █████████ ████ ██ ████, ███ ███ ██ ███ █████. █ ██████ ████████ ██████ ███ █████ ███ ████.
“He kindly stopped for her.”
