We should serve Perez. It’s what a Cafe and Diner does, and if we are going to call ourselves one, we should act like one. While it is important to keep operating costs in mind, we are doing fine with funds between Payroll’s credit line with her parents and H.R. and I’s "inheritance." Not to mention the decent nest egg we built up doing various odd jobs these past few years. If it would put the Manager’s mind at ease, I see no reason he can’t take sole ownership over those funds, seeing as the rest of us are well enough off. That is, assuming he is willing to do the Cafe’s work.
Besides, there are more currencies than monetary. In the pursuit of odd jobs, we managed to burn an impressive number of bridges within the Coffee Trade around these parts and abroad. It would be wise to start building some goodwill here if we plan to operate out of Palm Beach. It may seem like a small task in the grand scheme of things, but I am certain the locals of around the Keys would be appreciative if we could serve Perez and send him home. It helps keep the balance, and when things are balanced, the Coffee Trade tends to be more… harmonious.
Moreover, while Perez is a familiar and somewhat common face around the Cafe, he has no other means to return home. The poor guy is likely scared and hungry I’d imagine. Ending up on this side of the Gulf severely limits his food options, considering his specific goat-based diet. And while I agree, it would hardly be an effort that would qualify it as “practice,” that alone should be more than a sufficient reason to do it. It’s easy. You’ve always liked things to be easy, haven’t you Manager? Suck it up and do a good job. Then, you can burn through our savings on whatever inane trinkets and totems you fancy.
That’s all.
Big Guy
