There you have it, choice? Payroll says it was a mistake and honest it was. I just wasn't thinking straight. All jittery ‘cause of all this… Dark lark. Which, as my golden dove chriped, is no pie and mash. Even with my help, I don't even know if we can do it alone. Probably need another employee or two… or three or four. Make it an even eight. Or, and this could also work, we drop this Cafe façade and just deal with the Dark head-to-toe.
Y'know, I hate to even make this link here… but it's like the Perez palaver, ain't it? You put all your eggs in one basket setting up what was, give or take, a Scooby-Doo trap to send him packin’. Took ages, took lots of work, took a fair bit of graft, yeah? Again, it’s a real shame how it all panned out. But... can you twig how quickly it was sorted? What’s more, there's no chance that Perez will toddle back ‘round. The job's a wrap, done quick, and done tip-top. Sure—it could've been done cleaner, but… just swap out Perez for the Dark, and you get the sense of what I'm thinking.
We can't serve the Dark a bloody cuppa, can we? We can't—we just need to cut the apples and pears and take off the kid gloves. Hit them and hit them hard. Won't be as easy as it was with Perez, I get that. But do you really think we can do anything to the Dark if we keep just playing around? Hell—it seems like we help them more than we've been able to harm them lately. Back when I was with the Company, I learned a valuable lesson; things don't get settled unless you stop playing by the book.
