Hey… uh… well, the cat’s out of the bag it’d seem. I got an email today from a “Manager 35” from the Cafe and Diner off of E. Broadway and N. Waite. The Third Cafe. More than just that, though, they aren’t the only ones who know we’re operating as a Cafe. Apparently, Manager 35 figured out there was a different Cafe and Diner because Langley & Langley: Actuaries of the Unknown have us all under an insurance plan. It’s kinda sweet, don’t you think? Maybe… it’d be nice to give them a call to thank them, Payroll? From what I can tell, we are way, way over-insured—and I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think we’ve been paying for any of it.
The email I got from Manager 35 said:
“Hello! My name is [Manager 35], and I work for the Cafe and Diner located off of N. Waite and E. Broadway in Long Beach, CA. It has come to our attention that you are also calling yourselves the “Cafe and Diner,” and we wanted to know more about your operations. Do you have any special numbers? How long have you been open? Are you franchised from the original Cafe and Diner here in California? Did your Cafe and Diner have investors?
Thank you, and all the best!
-Manager 35…”
With a follow-up email that just pointed out the whole Langley & Langley connection. What… um… what should I say? Should I tell them about our 1/8th of the 8? How long we’ve been open? How long we’ve really been open? And what do they mean by “investors?” Like, Payroll being our, y’know, payroll? I won’t email back until I discuss it with her… but I don’t think we can really hide this from them for much longer. Nor should we, in my opinion.
Peace, Love, and Joy!
