I think the Cafe received a letter? Or maybe it’s more of a message? Hopefully not a threat. Or something like that. I’m not sure. A weird message popped up in the book I was reading. Like, IN the book. As I was reading, the words changed into the following statement:
“Dear Palm Beach CaD,
Hello. How are you doing? I hope you are well. As I understand it, you are trying to piece together the Mechanism. Or you have pieced together the Mechanism. Or you will learn of the Mechanism soon enough. Well, in any case, you will piece together the Mechanism at some point. Of course, I am writing this message now to warn you that you should NOT reconstruct the Mechanism. The Ape has been using the Mechanism to grow his collection, and well, things are getting out of hand and fast. So, my advice would be to stop your work on the Mechanism or never begin it. I’ll be in touch in person as soon as I can.

I… feel like this HAS to do with the Society, right? I mean, it’s signed “John Doe.” That’s a pretty clear nom de plume. And aren’t they supposed to be able to communicate through books or something like that? And it seems like whoever this John Doe is, they wrote this message achronologically. At least, as far as I know, we don’t know who or what “the Ape” is. Though this could also be a trick. The way in which I’ve been searching for the Mechanism pieces does open us up to non-locals butting in. Well, at least this John Doe said they’ll be in touch in person, right? I just can’t tell if he’ll be a friend or not. Hopefully not.
