Lavender and I just returned from our brief trip to San Francisco. No sign of Mrs. Jejune—so for now, we’ll need to put this tab on hold. That said, we did stumble upon something to occupy our late-nights… a peculiar piece of comfort food… albeit one prone to paranesthesia. Small shards of what can only be described as living static. We also crossed paths with Mr. Cold, who, unlike us, seemed to know exactly how to use these shards. The process looked simple enough: he held one tightly, and then—vanished. Just like that. While I suspect we could replicate his actions, I can’t shake the concern over where we might end up. It’s not a leap I’m ready to make without knowing more.
We didn’t visit the ruins of the Sutro Baths, though Lavender felt a distinct emotional pull toward that spot. It’s possible Mrs. Jejune is hiding out there, but until we understand these shards—and their purpose—better, rushing to serve her or her Socio-Reengineering cult feels reckless. Instead, we focused on what we did observe between the Lands End Labyrinth and the 16th Floor: spirals. Spirals everywhere. I can’t tell if the spiral we saw on the 16th Floor was a clue directing us to the Labyrinth or if the spirals and shards are somehow connected.
And then there’s the elephant in the room: the nature of the shards themselves. They’re like fragments of TV snow. Snow. Mr. Cold even brought him up—or, well, he almost did before his words started looping on us. We’d been hoping the Novas were still sealed within the Archives, but this might change things. It seems Snow, at least, is still active—and likely aiding Mrs. Jejune. That’s… troubling. Hibiscus, I’m not sure how much you remember about the Novas, but if you have any other insights, now’s the time to share. Do these static shards seem familiar to you?
