I’ll go. Olivia knows the RRBT as well as I do by now, so she can handle things here. I think she’s excited to try her hand at leading things. It’s hard to tell with her. But I’m not going to abandon everyone else like Amber abandoned me. I stuck with the Cafe and Diner for seven years; I’m not going to turn away now that things have become less official. In fact, I think it’s a far better direction for the coffee industry. All the secrets, lies, and lack of goodbyes only ever hurt us and never seemed to keep anyone particularly safe. As long as Jean-Marc is not running things, I’m on board.
That being said, I don’t know if I feel much better about Amber running things. I’ve been keeping up with the Archives—I guess you could call it morbid curiosity—and it doesn’t seem like things went well under Twain’s leadership, did it? I know, she’s Amber now. A name change isn’t enough. It’s not like Twain was actually a different person under the Zulu mask. She was and always will be Amber. I guess I should just move on from it, huh? People come, and people go, and sometimes people think leaving without a word will hurt less than the truth.
On the grand scale of things, I suppose it could have been worse. We were just roommates and coworkers. I can’t imagine how much it must have hurt J. I doubt we’ll get her back for a last cup of coffee before things… what, close down? Or do you think it’s finally time for things to rewind? I waited anxiously night after night when things ended with Fate. Just waiting for the sudden moment when everything just stops and starts over. But it never came. And now? I don’t know if I’d want it to. So, if we can stop the impossible one last time, I’m down.
