Nine. Nine, Nine, Nine. How to get in touch with Mr. Mysterious Mevon, John Doe—Nine. That is the million-dollar question. Back in the day, we always got in touch with Nine by writing to him in a book. It never mattered which one. Just as long as it was a published book, he’d seem to “find” us and write back by changing the words. I’m still unclear if he was changing the words directly or by actually going back and changing the words in the book itself. That’d be something, wouldn’t it?
I mean, we do have the Society of Nom de Plume’s contact information via Tango, but then we’d have to file an official report, and that seems like a drag. We’re not even doing anything we aren’t supposed to be doing. Alfa wants us to deal with the Hyperion Cult, right? I guess I’d rather see if we can get to Nine by ourselves first, as it leaves more opportunities open for later if you catch my drift. Not that I think Nine would want to join our weird little rag-tag group. He made it pretty clear his involvement with the Cafe and Diner was more of a one-off thank you for helping him with his own problems.
Speaking of, he could be in Indigo Prime. I hope not, jeez. Indigo Prime is a mess of a cycle. I’m almost surprised it’s still spinning at this rate. I guess that could be the first place I check for him if our bibliographic means of communication don’t work out. I’m unsure how we should address him in a book: “Hey Nine, we need your help?” Mm… it seems to be a little hopeful, huh? How would he even know we wrote to him? But it’s worth a shot. I’ll have Blackwood try that in a couple of different detective books she has lying around.
