I have some… troubling news to share. Perhaps you’ve already seen it on the Archive’s Employee Blog… No. 17—Felix—needs to retire. Yesterday, in an attempt to take down Miss. Fitch, Janos, and Cece, Felix was… severely injured. He’ll be okay; the worst of it was a punctured lung and a few broken bones—nothing that won’t heal with time. But, he is 78. I know there are some Cafe and Diner employees older than that, but with Felix, his age has caught up with him. He was already planning to retire once everything settled down… but when will that ever happen in this business?
He’ll still be around to consult and help where he can, but I don’t want him to overexert himself any further. He should be spending his last years enjoying some peace and quiet—playing bingo, watching TV, and just relaxing for once. However, Felix’s unexpected retirement leaves us understaffed at a time when we really could use all hands on deck. Fortunately, with our partnership with the Astoria 23rd Agency, we have a wide pool to select from, as they’ve got plenty of coffee-sellers to spare.
The obvious pick would be someone from Hotel or India, but that overlooks what No. 17’s role in the Cafe largely was. Instead, we’ll need a haberdasher from Juliett, and luckily, Felix knows just the guy. Though, he won’t be the only one joining us. One of the Cafe’s liaisons through Division Tango has also expressed interest in joining the Cafe. In fact, they expressed interest right around the time we started working directly with the Agency. I figured an extra addition wouldn’t hurt, and Felix was always doing the work of at least two employees—if not more.
