Bonjou and salitasyon, Cafe and Diner. I will be filling in for old Tonton Felix. A shame what happened to him, no? But what can you do, eh? Between his age and the customers you’ve been trying to serve… it was bound to catch up with him. I’ve known Tonton Felix since I was a young kid back in New Orleans. See, out there, the "Blackwood" name is what you might call "taboo," yes? All the other families in the business have turned their backs on the Blackwoods—all except mine. And I was personally taught the ways of, as you all call it, "haberdashery" by Tonton Felix himself. So, I suppose there could be no better replacement for him, wouldn’t you agree?
Now, like my fellow… let’s call it "co-hire," we both come from the Agency. Yesterday, I was merely Mercutio of Division Juliett. Given the Cafe and Agency’s contemptuous and uneasy alliance right now, the switch over was no problem at all. And like No. 1331, I too wanted a break from the cubicle work and never-ending grind. Though, unlike No. 1331, who found themselves stuck at the highest rung of the lowest ladder, once you settle into a J-S Division, you work there ’til you die or quit. The best I could’ve done for myself would be to usurp Hamlet—but that is yon panye krab I don’t want to stick my hand into.
Now, Tonton Felix had an interesting role, splitting his time between Astoria, Long Beach, and Palm Beach. With seniority comes a good many duties, no? However, we’re going to keep it simple for me. On paper, No. 17 was part of the Palm Beach branch, and so I am part of the Palm Beach branch. It works out well for me, as I share a similar affliction with the managers over there. In my more reckless youth, I did many a Wicked thing. Perhaps, together, we can find a cure for it, eh?
