Katherine made her decision today—she’s staying!
I was really hoping she would. I mean, she could go anywhere, of course. Coffee isn’t just served in SoCal—or even just on the West Coast. But… well, I couldn’t help but worry. If she went somewhere else, fell in with the wrong crowd, put on the wrong apron—or the wrong lapel pin—she’d be used.
You all saw what that Oscar creep said, right? A lot of people would see her as a tool, a monster, a weapon. But she’s not. She’s… well, Katherine.
And now, it’s official. Katherine Wade is one of us!
She obviously doesn’t have to stay in the basement anymore. She hasn’t been down there all weekend, and she’s been fine. We’ve been fine. Of course, Jenny’s been working hard to keep her appetite under control. Jean-Marc says that if she keeps making progress, she can even start working some shifts on the ground floor. And I think he’s right—isolation is what makes monsters. And Katherine? She’s anything but.
I won’t pretend this makes things easy. She’s still struggling. The hunger is still there. She’s still afraid of herself. And yeah, I know some of the baristas are uneasy. But she’s trying. And for now, that’s enough.
I don’t know what the road ahead looks like—if she’ll want to search for a “cure” or if she’ll find peace in what she’s become. Either way, I’ll support her. The whole Cafe will.
In the meantime, Jenny and Jennifer are helping her stay grounded. Sarah and Mikey are running tests to better understand what she’s dealing with. And… if she decides not to seek a cure, if she chooses to embrace this—then I hope Jericho will guide her. I know he’s… rough around the edges. But if anyone understands great and dangerous power, it’s him.
